Why is Glyburide Prescribed?
Glyburide is an oral diabetes medicine used to treat people with type 2 diabetes. Glyburide works by stimulating the release of your own body's insulin.
Glyburide is not to be used in people with type 1 diabetes.

- sore throat
- fever

- change in urine color

- swelling

Glyburide medicine can cause Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). If you do experience these Hypoglycemia symptoms, have something sweet such as a piece of hard candy, honey or orange juice. Hypoglycemia symptoms include:
- shakiness
- chills

- dizziness
- blurred vision
Glyburide Precautions
Prior to taking Glyburide medicine, tell your doctor about all medicines you currently take including OTC medicines, prescription medicines, vitamins and supplements. Certain medicines may interact with this oral diabetes medicine.
Tell your doctor about all medical conditions you have especially heart disease or kidney disease.
Pregnant women and women thinking about becoming pregnant should not takeGlyburide. Nursing mothers should also not take Glyburide.
Glyburide can cause drowsiness. Use caution when driving or operating heavy machinery.
Glyburide can cause your skin to become sensitive to the sun. Limit your time outdoors, wear protective clothing and apply sunscreen.
In Case of Emergency Glyburide Overdose
In case of Glyburide overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
