    What is Antara used for?

Antara, also known as Fenofibrate, is a medication that reduces both cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels. Lowering both of these levels may prevent heart disease, chest pain, heart attacks and strokes.

Antara also raises the HDl cholesterol levels, also known as "good" cholesterol.

Antara works best when it is used in addition to a healthy diet low in fat and cholesterol and regular physical activity.

Your doctor may choose to prescribe Antara medicine for other reasons not mentioned here.

    Important Antara information

A healthy diet and exercise program should be followed while taking Antara.

You should not consume alcohol while being treated with Antara. Alcohol has a tendency to raise triglyceride levels and may cause liver damage.

Take your Antara medicine with an 8oz. glass of water. Take your Antara medicine exactly as it was prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more Antara than prescribed or for a longer period of time than your doctor prescribed.

If you take certain medications such as Cholestyramine or Colestipol, you should not take these drugs at the same time as you take Antara. Discuss with your doctor when the right times to take these other drugs are.

To test the effectiveness of Antara, your doctor will want to perform certain tests. In addition, your doctor will also want to run tests to check your liver function and gallbladder function. Keep all visits with your doctor and laboratory.
